Matt Able & Gary Phillips head into their burnout routine, both sounding strong, Phillips Car sounding pretty awesome.  Matt Able has problems on the start line, Phillips will take a solo and this car is on a march…it is straight…it is just strutting to the finish line and it’s a 6.01 pass and he backed off with a soft set up, everything going as it should, there should be Phillips first five here tonight.

We have Deno Brijeski out into a tyre torturing burnout , sounding tough in the burnout procedure he is on a solo and he leaves the start line in a very committed way but suffers awful awful tyre shake, from just past  the 60 foot mark.  And that is the end of this pass.

Stuart Bishop on a solo pass and looking awesome after his recent blip of bad luck – his hang on ride a couple of weeks ago.  The car stepped out hard, but around the 120 mark it started to drift around and he aborts the run.

Bennie Bray and Ray Bernard, this will be a tough qualifying pass and Bray just blows the tyres off the line and shakes the door right open.  Ray Bernard had a straight event free pass to cross the finish line just a little outside of his best time.

Peter Kapiris and Maurice Fabietti, once again they both sound very strong, Kapiris though jumps and shakes right off the start line, But Fabulous is on a great pass here this afternoon, he has certainly got a base line handle on the track this afternoon.

Robin Judd who is currently in the hunt for the Top Doorslammer Championship this year, and wont that be an upset to see that go to the other side of the country, he is alongside Andrew Sutton, they both suffer tyre shake off the line, but Judd has got the worst of it, and it knocks off the wheelie bar of Judds, Sutton to suffered tyre shake and they both back off.

Big Vic lays down a half track burnout for the Castrol Fans, the Corvette of Russel Pavey in the lane beside him, a much more sedate burnout from Pavey and Victor leaves hard and tough and it’s a solid pass for him.  Pavey not so good, tyre shake and backs off.

John Zappia and Travis Connor are into their burnout routine,  during the burnout, Connor snaps a blower belt  and Zappia is turned off.

John Zappia has been given the opportunity to cool down, and will give qualifying another go, the sun is just in that little awkward position,  and this is an absolutely awesome pass, Zapp certainly has everything sorted and it  looked just effortless.

Deno Brijeski will strut his stuff with Deno Brijeski both are into the burnouts, both leave pretty ugly and do a bit of stamping down the quarter, we heard a blower belt go…just not sure who it was, but with this run Bray has being pushed to the outside.

Matt Able and Ray Bernard, now did these pair lay down a couple of great burnouts, into stage, Able red lights, Bernard is in trouble at about the 60 foot mark, straight into tyre shake, but at least Bernard is in the field.

18/04/2009 6:23 pm 21Deg,72%H,1013mB,1159RA,(TT)31Deg

Ben Bray and Stuart Bishop, Bray had a fuel line connected to the injector come loose and sprayed the windscreen, the crew are all over the car trying to mop it up, Bishop is waiting patiently, both cars leave like they mean business and Bray definitely does, this is a good run for him and he slams into second spot.

Victor Bray and Maurice Fabietti are our next partnership, oh and Vic has way overpowered the track with wheels up on the launch real savage off the start line, but Fabietti, he is on a very strong march to the finish, oh so close, so very close to a five for Fabulous.

Robin Judd and Russel Pavey, now Judd has a new gizmo that is supposed to check start line traction, his crew spent quite a good amount of time out here checking out the track and obviously it worked quite well as Judd runs a very nice five second pass thereby showing John Zappia he means business and he will not give up this championship without a fight, Pavey however out of shape again, and not a great pass.

Ray Bernard, now he has had a pretty good day thus far of qualifying and has run pretty close to his personal best here this evening and I was just commenting on how straight this car has been running, that’ll teach me to comment as he got out of control and took out the mid track boxes.  Maurice Fabietti is on a march, and look at this Fabietti has run his first five here tonight and the crowd and the crew are absolutely ecstatic.  Well done Team!

Deno Brijeski and Robin Judd, now Judd seems to be throwing down the glove to everyone here tonight, Brijeski is trying to make it into the field and he does pushing Bray onto the bump spot.  It was a great run for Judd until we got word that he just touched the wall in the bottom end, Judd is out of the okay – totally uninjured, we are just waiting word on the car.

Gary Phillips and Andrew Sutton, now both of these racers have been sitting patiently waiting while the bottom end was cleaned up after Judd, Sutton is going to attempt to bump  Victor Bray out of this field and its nearly a 5 for Phillips but he doesn’t quite get there.  For Sutton it’s a peddle on and off the throttle all the way down the quarter.

Ben Bray in a very very long burnout, starts to make his way back as Russel Pavey starts his burnout routine,  will Pavey get a  good pass this time, no Pavey is on off on off the throttle, Bray just doesn’t have it in him for a five second pass. According to Ken Lowe the track is a little too good for Pavey to be able to catch the right tune up.

Victor Bray and Matt Able,  Victor wants this meeting nore than words can say, they leave let me say, they look hard on the leave, Able looked fast but it wasn’t that Able was particularly fast it was that Victor’s Chev was running like a flat block of wood.

Stuart Bishop, I went for a wander down to Bishop’s pits not long ago and I can honestly say you would be able to see it from deep outer space, it is one of the most brightly lit pit areas I have ever seen. Stuart leaves hard and this is going to be a good run from him, can he crack a five, it would be marvellous to see this thing run a big number but no, close but not close enough.  Kapiris is all over the track, the car does not sound good and he does not make it into the field.

John Zappia already in top spot, will just be out here doing some testing.  Could be a bracket car for the times it  does, and how it handles.

Gary Phillips and Ben Bray, this is a match up of the Giants of Top Doorslammer, now we still have the points tussle happening between Judd and Zappia, so that will come later in the program, but Bray has problems in the burnout, no burnout  and the track crew is mopping the track after him, he goes right back and everyone is hoping that he doesn’t cross the start line again which would cause him to be disqualified, a very sharp business type burnout from Phillips and this is a race right to the finish line and Phillips takes the win in a very close race.

Stuie Bishop and Fabulous Fabietti, Bishop has been running very nice this weekend, Fabulous has been running exceptionally well, can the Jeweller cause the upset by turfing Fabietti who has run his first five second pass here this weekend.  They are out Bishop has savage tyre shake on the get go that pounces him  over the centre line which is just as well as Fabietti lost a blower belt mid track.

Judd into his burnout, Brijeski follows, Deno Wants the win, and this will cause a shake up in the points, Judd looses his tyre cover in the burnout, (crew must have forgotten to take it off) into stage .  Both into savage tyre shake, but Deno can’t recover, Judd over clutched it, suffered for it by tyre shake but recovered enough to cross the line before Brijeski.

John Zappia meets Victor Bray, they have matched up 38 times before when the score being Bray 27, Zappia 11, both into their burnout procedure and they are off, but this is somewhat of a non event as Victor hits the tyre shake right off the line and buttons it off.  Zappia is on a tough hard pass right to the finish with a 5.87

Maurice Fabietti and Robin Judd, can Fabulous cause another upset, Judd is desperately wanting the Number One for the 08/09 season and Fabietti could end that dream right here.  This is an incredible race as Fabietti has the wholeshot, and Judd only manages to catch him right at the finish.  And will this could be a new speed record as Fabietti ran a 247  yesterday and now a 248mph.

John  the Zap Zappia and Gary Phillips. I expect both of these racers will throw every single thing they have at this and oh my God they do, they are out, they both suffer tyre shake Gary suffers it more so Zappia takes the win and will face Judd in the final.
