Michael Davey in AA/G  Monaro  alongside him Graeme Frawley in an altered , lots of action around Frawleys car, and Davey is given the solo, as the crew pushes Frawley back.  Davey left and this was tough, very tough he backs off about mid track and cruises through the finish.

Glenn Anderson  up against Greg Clayton, my money is on a yellow altered to cross the finish line first, but Anderson has a few jadder problems and Clayton will take the winners light.

Steven Ham  in this amazing Funny Car, why is it amazing well the times it pulls of course, alongside him a stalwart of drag racing Denis Byth, both into Stage, what can Hams car do this time, Ham leaves a cherry on the tree and runs a 5.68, Byth also runs a good number, both of them under the index.

Mark Davison, this is a new altered,  and does its water burnout and then cant get the altered into any go forward gear they shut it off and that’s it…its stuck.

Michael Davey into his burnout routine and Greg Clayton trying to catch up to him, this is Davey’s best pass of the day, I think this is the first time we have seen Clayton this weekend, not a bad pass but I would expect he would be looking for something better next round.

Steven Ham – that did not sound good in the burnout, alongside him Glenn Anderson, this is a bit of a David v’s Goliath match up, Ham leaves a red light on the tree which doesn’t really matter in qualifying, he has to  reign the Funny car in and Anderson just drives around him.

18/04/2009 5:54 pm 21Deg,70%H,1013mB,1191RA,(TT)31Deg

Graeme Frawley and Denis Byth and doesn’t Byth’s dragster sound good as it rocks and rolls on the blip of a throttle, Leahy gets out well, wheels up all the way and he tries to hold on but the power of Byth is just too much and he crosses the finish line first.

Denis Byth  and Glenn Anderson, now Glenn is going to have to do a great pass to keep up with Byth.   Bythl does leave the dreaded cherry on the tree, but still a great pass.

Steve Ham and Graeme Frawley, and it’s a tough leave for Frawley with his wheels up in the air.  This thing of Hams is really powerful  and  it certainly has some big legs down the end.

18/04/2009 8:17 pm 19Deg,86%H,1014mB,1017RA,(TT)29Deg

Mark Davison in a very impressive new altered, I personally haven’t seen this car before it sounds strong in the burnout but gets loose way early and it didn’t sound very good right off the line.

Steven Ham our number two qualifier, takes on Glenn Anderson who qualified in fifth spot, 1.28 divides them with Ham to do the chasing, this is going to be a case of Ham having to really throw everything at it to hunt down Anderson particularly if he cuts a good light. Anderson red lights his chance away so Ham decided to look after his index and backs off.

The Dragster of Denis Byth, he was to be up against Michael Davey, Byth  is very sedate in the burnout, should he run it out the back door and test data or will he just have a Sunday afternoon drive. And yes he test the car for the first three hundred feet and then bangs it off.

Graeme Frawley takes on Greg Clayton, in theory Clayton should be the winner but as everyone knows in drag racing anything can happen.  They are out and as expected it is Claytons race.

Graeme Frawley has the solo as he was the number one qualifier,  hmm lucky he was on a solo as it headed straight to the wall.

Steven Ham was a little late in fronting to the line, but Byth sat and waited patiently for him only .5 of a second in this, Byth should leave the line first but it will depend on who pulls the bet5ter reaction time, Byth has the better reaction, Ham came off the clutch had a little stab off the throttle and it caught on fire, was quite a sizeable fire but very quickly under control.

Denis Byth versus Graeme Frawley, now there is 1.41 difference in the index. Byth will have to have his wits about him to catch Frawley. But Byth red lights his chances away  and hands the win, no he doesn’t Frawley hits the wall at about the 330 foot mark and the Andra Steward has ruled the win to Byth.
