Brian
Marsden and Pino Priolo are our first pairing
out in Supercharged Outlaws qualifying session,
and I was down in the Supercharged Outlaws Pits
before and they said the air is getting near
perfect for them…very good passes on both sides
of the track with Pino crossing the finish line
first and a great effort for the Western
Australian on a new track.

Ward and Clyde Hudson, now for those of you as
old as me…we would remember this ute of Hudsons
as been the Ole Tony Harrington car that was
infamous at all the race tracks in queensland
some 15 years ago in Wildbunch, and it still
looks as fabulous today as it did then, both
drivers need to come to terms with the track
conditions and we have a double red light with
Hudson getting there first.

takes on Bill Fletcher in this first qualifying
session. A big red light to Fletcher and it’s a
nice pass for Peirano they seem to be fairly
happy with that and are looking forward to big
things for the weekend.

Palmyra and will be looking to do that here this
weekend, alongside him John Fleming. Fleming is
out and away but Anderson is all trouble with a
huge launch and a bang back to earth and then on
and off the throttle till he aborted it.

in the dragster, now rumour has it that
Mortensen could jump to the top of the
qualifying tree on this pass if he has a handle
on the track, My God that dragster is quick it
just seemed to launch and take off down the
track and its too fast…a strong pass from Rodgie
as well.

Russell
Mackay and Frank Taylor, this will be a good pass, I
tell you what the crowd here are being treated to
some sensational passes on this Beautiful Friday,
now Mackay did his burnout, but then we saw his crew
pushing him back. Taylor will go on his own. Leaves
hard, stays in the middle of the track and he slots
into tenth qualifying position, the chute comes off
the Monza and he ends up way deep in the traps.

presented Camaro, Rob Coleman is an old favourite
here at Willowbank. And this is a clean pass by
Anderson but way off his usual six second pace.
Coleman runs consistently as usual.

to the pleasure of the crowd. This is Fry’s first
pass of the weekend as the team worked in to the
night to get the car ready. Fry has massive shake
off the line so does Gatt and the both pedal for a
great side by side pass.

Les Rodgie
and Christine Steffans are our next pair in this
never ending onslaught of outlaw qualifying here at
the Winternationals, good pass here but Steffans
has slowed this car down quite considerably, a nice
pass for the funny car of Rodgie.

The big
screen at Willowbank Raceway is now located on the
opposite side of the Media Centre and it truly looks
amazing, as Les Rodgie up against the small block

half the track but she just doesn’t have the power

As the sun
is sinking here at Willowbank Raceway and you can
see the cold coming in we have Darren Fry in a very
strong burnout in the altered, Fry has experienced a
few problems this weekend, but has managed to get
them sorted. Alongside him Michael Bluey Arnold. And
Fry suffered severe tyre shake on the leave there is
tremendous judder marks right off the line, he only
runs a seven but it’s a great mile an hour. It’s a
fabulous run for both Fry and Arnold.

impressed many Queenslanders this weekend, .07 will
separate the two on the lights so the wholeshot will
have a big impact on deciding the winner. Dack
will do the waiting, both leave clean, Swinscoe is
out, Dack is after him like Speedy Gonzales, and he
drags him in despite the fact that from 330 foot
there was smoke exiting the front of Dacks Mustang.

Steffans and Marty Dack will round out the finals of
the Castrol Winternationals and the Supercharged
Outlaws bracket. Strong burnouts from both
competitors, reaction time went to Steffans and she
hangs onto it for the win, not sure if Marty had a
problem but it sure has been great having him here.
